CRINA Summer Studentships

For the summer of 2025, the Cancer Research Institute of Northern Alberta (CRINA) is offering 11 summer studentships. Each award is valued at $1875/month for 4 months. 

Tough Enough to Wear Pink Drag Race
Thanks to the generosity from the Tough Enough to Wear Pink Drag Race, CRINA is able to offer four summer studentships in the areas of breast cancer, prostate cancer, bladder cancer and melanoma.

Alberta Cancer Foundation
In collaboration with the Alberta Cancer Foundation, the following awards are available: 

  • Betty K. Brown Studentship (focus: breast cancer research at the Cross Cancer Institute)
  • Cathy Compton McNabb Studentship (focus: leukemia in Northern Alberta)
  • Victor-Osten Studentship (focus: cancer research)
  • Lynda Doiron Studentship (focus: cancer research at the Cross Cancer Institute)
  • Ed and Barbara Prodor Studentship (focus: cancer research with a preference to pancreatic and gall bladder research at the Cross Cancer Institute)
  • Sartore Multidisciplinary Summer Studentship (focus: area of Clinical Nutrition, Medicine, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Social Work, Pharmacy, Respiratory Therapy, or other relevant professions based at the Cross Cancer Institute)

Kids with Cancer Society
The Dr. David Eisenstat Summer Studentship in Pediatric Oncology is offered in collaboration with the Kids with Cancer Society. 

Application
CRINA uses the Alberta Innovates Summer Research Studentship (SRS) program for the application process. Applications that are not successful in the Alberta Innovates SRS competition will be forwarded to CRINA for consideration. 

Please note, SRS eligibility has been restored for students enrolled at other Canadian post-secondary institutions, or Canadian citizens/permanent residents studying abroad and returning to Alberta for the summer. Non-UofA students who are offered an award will be registered at the UofA on a not-for-credit basis during their award term. 

Eligibility
Supervisor must be a CRINA member.
