It was delivered as part of a panel with two scholars from the University of Vienna at the annual conference of the Association for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies, held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. On his way back to Edmonton Jars gave a talk about the Canadian journalist, Rhea Clyman, who reported on famine conditions that she observed while travelling through Eastern Ukraine and the Kuban region in the late summer of 1932. Hosted by the Jewish Genealogical Society of Toronto, his presentation took place at Temple Sinai on 25 November.
