Campus & Community Recreation supports the U of A and Edmonton community to explore and enhance their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being through physical and social activity. The power of recreation supports these needs with a focus on mental health, student leadership, work integrated learning, social connection and being a community asset.
Campus & Community Recreation has the breadth and depth of activities to enhance the experience of students, staff and community members alike. Members can enjoy group or individual exercise, recreational or elite sport training, physical assessments for healthy living or work and a range of ethnic and cultural dance.

Recreation is an important element to life, no matter your age, and it comes in so many forms that you can always find an activity that you enjoy. Anna Steenwinkle shares her experience in climbing, which started before university but has stuck with her since.

Recreation is important for the mental and physical health of the U of A community, and it only became more important during the COVID-19 pandemic. Christine Park and Marianne Howell share how virtual fitness classes offered them a convenient and fun way to stay active.

A reliable support for the community
Campus & Community Recreation offers more than just recreational programming. Sport and recreation facilities are an asset to the community that serve multiple needs. The Universiade Pavilion (Butterdome) plays a pivotal role in serving the community, such as transforming into an assessment and treatment centre and an alternate care centre for Alberta Health Services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
