1 November 2024

ReneWool is a method of upcycling the blended textile waste currently filling landfills into a value-added commodity—spider silk! The UAlberta iGem team responsible for this invention is co-supervised by Biochemistry professor Dr. David Stuart and has some past and present Biochemistry undergraduates: Neethu Dax, Anthony Shin, Joy Cao, Cody McCloy, Ashwin Anand.

The team presented their project at the iGem 2024 grand jamboree in Paris, France from October 23-26, 2024, where they were awarded the GOLD Medal for their project! Read more about the teams success in the UofA's Folio Magazine.
