BCGSA (Student Group)
What is the BCGSA?
The BCGSA is a student group dedicated to promoting the involvement of biochemistry graduate students in the campus community. Our goal is to provide graduate students in the department with a means of socializing and networking with one another, as well as with the rest of the Department. The executive team plans several fun events throughout the year. We also organize academic-related activities to promote career development skills for graduate students by utilizing other resources available on campus. The BCGSA hopes to serve as a catalyst for the integration of individuals from around the world into an accepting, multicultural Department.
What we do:
Throughout the year, the BCGSA organizes multiple social events. In the past, we have conducted game nights, pizza lunches, international potlucks, annual charity drives, and many other exciting events. Annual events include a Meet 'n Greet with the biochemistry professors, a Winter banquet, and a year-end banquet with biochemistry undergraduate students. We also participate in university GSA meetings (attended by our GSA council executive) to stay updated on changes that could affect our fellow graduate students and to provide them with up to date information. The executive team monitors potential external resources on campus, to provide biochemistry graduate students with more opportunities that can enhance their career development skills.
