How ATI Membership Can Help!
Your ATI is here to help you connect and grow as a researcher, or as a user of research. Working together for the sake of all Albertans, whether they be transplant patients, caregivers, living donors, deceased donors, or their families, will help us further cement a productive, engaged, and committed community of practice.
The ATI was established on and remains committed to three main Pillars for Success:
Research:
With Alberta already ranked 6th worldwide for transplantation research, the ATI is committed to seeing us in first position. With the strength of our members and their decades of experience as innovators and change makers, we can develop solutions that directly benefit the lives of the patients, families, and donors we serve, here in Alberta and in the world beyond our borders.
Education:
From weekly seminars showcasing local and international talent, an annual ATI Research Day to bring together the best of the best, to supporting our brightest young minds through studentships and scholarships, we are wholeheartedly committed to nurturing an amazing new generation of scientists, researchers, and health professionals.
Advocacy:
The ATI supports patient, family, and donor-led advocacy for continual improvements in Alberta's donation and transplantation system. The most magical collaborations on policy and societal change happen when researchers, clinicians, and patient-familydonor partners work together to inspire a health system, a province, and its very culture of organ and tissue donation.
Forward. Together.
Working as a broad, multi-disciplinary, and engaged community through the Alberta Transplant Institute, we can better the lives of the more than 500 Albertans on the transplant waiting list today, the average of 400 fortunate enough to be transplanted each year, the many thousands today who live and thrive with a lifesaving transplant, their families and caregivers, our amazing living donors, and the families of deceased donors. All of these groups can benefit from our work through research and innovation.
The ATI has been fortunate to receive the generous philanthropic support of dedicated members and citizens, support from industry partners, and contributions from our host institution, the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. While we work on cultivating financial support to achieve our ambitious community goals, we encourage our members to support your ATI through volunteerism, committee membership, teaching the next generation of scientists and, of course, through your continued generosity.
