Healthy Eating and Active Living for Diabetes (HEALD) was effective in increasing daily activity through an exercise specialist-led walking program for people with type-2 diabetes, implemented in four Alberta Primary Care Networks (PCNs).

Our analysis showed HEALD cost $340 per patient. We found this to be a cost-effective strategy to improve daily walking among adults with type-2 diabetes in primary care.
