Research Internships
University of Alberta International offers several options for students from abroad who want to gain research experience at the UAlberta on a short-term basis. These programs are open to students from all disciplines who are interested in expanding their knowledge in their area of study through collaboration with UAlberta's world-class researchers.
University of Alberta Research Experience (UARE)
Open to: Senior undergraduate students at key partner institutions
Disciplines: All
Funding: $6,000 CAD
Duration: 12 weeks
Start Dates: Year round
MITACS Globalink (GRI)
Open to: Undergraduate and graduate students in designated countries
Disciplines: All
Funding: Varies in value; typically covers living expenses, flights, health insurance, and accommodations
Duration: 12 weeks
Start Dates: May 1 through July 31
China Scholarship Council (CSC) Funded Internships
Open to: Undergraduate students from designated universities in China
Disciplines: All
Funding: $4,500 CAD, airfare, health insurance
Duration: 3 months
Start Dates: typically early July
Government of Canada International Scholarships (ELAP, SEED, Study in Canada)
Open to: Undergraduate and graduate students from the Americas, Southeast Asia, and across the globe
Disciplines: All
Funding: $8,200 - $15,900 CAD
Duration: 4 - 8 months
