Certificate in Community Engagement and Service-Learning
Deadline: Students planning to graduate in the spring with the certificate need to apply before February 1.
Students participating in CSL courses can earn an additional degree certificate in community service-learning entitled Certificate in Community Engagement and Service-Learning. This certificate speaks to a student's willingness to collaborate on projects with various organizations, ability to handle the responsibility of completing assignments with tangible results, and investment in the philosophy behind creating partnerships which support the ecological and social sustainability of our region.
To qualify for the Certificate, students must fulfill all existing requirements for their respective discipline. Additionally, students must:
1) Complete a minimum of 12 credits and one non-credit project as follows:
- At least 3 credits in a CSL-designated course (CSL 100, 300 or 360)
- 9 credits from approved courses that have a CSL component (examples include AUENV/GE0 120, AUMGT 200, AUPHI 102, AUSOC 200, AUPED 241, etc.). Students must satisfactorily meet the CSL requirements of each course.
- Successful completion of one non-credit project.
2) OR complete a minimum of 15 credits as follows:
- At least 3 credits in a CSL-designated course (CSL 100, 300 or 360)
- 12 credits from approved courses that have a CSL component (examples include AUENV/GEO 120, AUMGT 200, AUPHI 102, AUSOC 200, AUPED 241, etc.). Students must satisfactorily meet the CSL requirements of each course.

Please note that students wishing to pursue this certificate must apply through Student Academic Services by the application deadline for convocation. Among this application must be a completed CSL Certificate request form.
