A Message from the Director:

Welcome to the Clinician Investigator Program at the University of Alberta.

Our program supports qualified residents in RCPSC programs to take time out from their clinical training to pursue formal research training. Each trainees works with their chosen research supervisor to complete research projects leading to published manuscripts, and ultimately builds a curriculum vitae that demonstrates a track record of research productivity, research training and experience. Most trainees take two years out and pursue a Master's Degree, though other pathways - including a obtaining a PhD degree - are possible. Whether it is a stepping stone to an additional sub-specialty fellowship, or to a faculty position at an academic medical centre, our program can help sub-specialty trainees progress their careers.

Please consider whether our program will work for you, and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Best wishes,

M. Sean McMurtry, MD PhD FRCPC
Program Director, Clinician Investigator Program
