Purpose

The Roger S. Smith Undergraduate Student Research Award in the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation is intended to cultivate and support research partnerships between undergraduate students and faculty members.

The award is offered for research experience in the social sciences and humanities.

Value and Number of Awards

One award worth $5,000.00 is intended to provide a student with 15 weeks (20 hours/week) of research-based activity during the May 1-Aug. 30 period.

Eligibility

The award is open to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation who are entering their second, third or fourth year and who have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0. The student must have completed at least 30 credits but no more than 90 credits (plus or minus six credits).

The award is tenable only once in a student's undergraduate career.

How to Apply

Interested students are responsible for finding a supervisor who will agree to support their proposed research activities and complete Part III of the application form.

Application Deadline: April 1, 2024 at 4 p.m. MDT

Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.

Adjudication Committee

All completed applications will be reviewed and ranked by the Associate Dean (Research) and the Research Advisory Committee.
