U of A for Tomorrow Updates: May 6, 2021
6 May 2021
Here are the key U of A for Tomorrow updates from this week:
Clarifying the scope of IT transition
Since beginning administrative restructuring, there have been several questions asking exactly how IT will function in the new operating model. While some roles will exist locally, others will operate within a college or unit. To provide more clarity on what institutionally distributed IT will look like in the new model, we have prepared a video providing examples of IT roles operating centrally versus those operating in a faculty/unit.
New Home for the Health Sciences Council
The Health Sciences Council (HSC) and the Health Sciences Education and Research Commons (HSERC) are moving from their administrative home in the Provost’s Office to the new College of Health Sciences. While there are no immediate impacts on the functions and activities of the HSC and HSERC, the executive director position has unfortunately been eliminated. Greta Cummings, interim college dean for the College of Health Sciences and incoming chair of the HSC, will lead a review of the HSC and HSERC’s mandates, with representation from the health sciences faculties. Susan Lynch, college general manager for the College of Health Sciences, will provide interim administrative leadership for the HSC.
