Director of Graduate Surgical Education says, "Research and academic writing can be a challenging skill.  As with most skills they get better with time and practice. The Department of Surgery will support all students in achieving their goals. We are here to help!"

Grant Writing

The department has launched a training video about the art of grant writing.
Dr. Adetola Adesida, a successful veteran grant writer, and his mentee Alexander Szojka, walk us through the pitfalls of grant writing and give advice on how to write a winning grant in a 20-minute video on the web page "Research Resources."

Available Grants

Each month the Division of Surgical Research compiles a list of funding opportunities and mails it out in the Surgical Research Committee agenda to request a copy contact.

Mentoring

Our researchers have identified mentoring as being central to the department's research success. Dr. Colin Anderson, Division of Surgical Research Director says, “Our goal is to enhance the ability of our members to act as mentors to the next generation and to provide the resources that allow our early career researchers to flourish"
