Workshops
We are available to give workshops to speech-language pathologists and other professionals in North America and abroad. Over the years, we have given more than 130 workshops on stuttering treatment and related issues like bullying. Workshops are tailored to meet the needs and interests of the audience.
Please contact us at 780-492-2619 if you are interested in arranging a workshop.
We also host workshops in Edmonton from time to time. Some of these workshops can be accessed at a distance through video-conferencing. If you would like to be placed on our workshop notification list, please email us at istar@ualberta.ca
Upcoming workshops for SLPs
The Comprehensive Stuttering Program (CSP) approach authored at ISTAR is available in a condensed 2-day workshop format to practicing clinicians. Hundreds of students and practicing clinicians have learned this evidence-based approach in the past 30 years through participating in clinical traineeships at ISTAR. The efficacy of the CSP approach has been well researched and reported in several journal articles.
This 2-day basic workshop in 2024 includes a summary of etiological theories about stuttering and therapy approaches for school-age, teen, and adult clients. Participants will be trained in the identification of stuttering behaviours, fluency skill practice and instruction, delivery of accurate and appropriate feedback, and problem-solving. The workshop will be delivered in a live online format allowing time for questions and interaction. (The workshop will not be recorded for later viewing.)
