In 2023, the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine welcomed four new faculty members:
- Pamela Filiatrault-Veilleux: Researcher/speech-language pathologist brings a desire to improve services for young children with language-comprehension difficulties to her new role at U of A
- Antonio Miguel-Cruz: Brings expertise in nuclear, biomedical and rehabilitation engineering to his new role in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine
- Naomi Dolgoy: Joining as an assistant professor in April 2024, Dolgoy’s research will focus on the role of occupational therapy in cancer care
- Tanya Dash: New assistant professor looks forward to helping shape the next generation of speech-language pathologists

A simple intervention could help promote understanding of autistic children
A study by Sandra Hodgetts shows that simply equipping teachers and parents with essential information encourages adaptable communication styles, ultimately creating a more supportive and inclusive environment for autistic learners. New provincial funding of more than $7.4 million will create 44 seats per year for satellite master’s programs at Augustana campus in speech-language pathology, occupational therapy and physical therapy, all offered by the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine.New national network brings together expertise and experience to tackle long COVID
Doug Gross, professor in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, co-principal applicant on the network grant and member of the network’s pan-Canadian steering committee says this collaborative initiative aims to leverage diverse perspectives in research and clinical practice to better understand, manage, and support individuals affected by the lingering effects of COVID-19.
