Congratulations to Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorder's (CSD) Stuart Cleary, who received the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA) Honours of the College award.
The Honours of the College award, as stated on the ACSLPA website, is presented to a regulated member who has made a significant contribution to the professions of speech-language pathology or audiology in clinical practice, research/evaluation, mentorship/supervision, teaching, administration and/or service to ACSLPA.
According to CSD associate professor Lu-Anne McFarlane, one of three individuals who nominated Cleary, the award could not have gone to a more deserving person.
"I worked with Julie Evans and Kevin Lindland to support this award for Stuart," said McFarlane. "His commitment to students, clinicians and the profession is clear. His work ethic and professionalism make him a role model for those who know him."
Cleary received the award on October 23 during the ACSLPA Members Forum.
"[Cleary] is a trusted colleague and a leader in our profession and our department. He can always be counted on to provide a balanced perspective on a controversial topic-to say the 'difficult' things that need to be said while respecting the opinions of others, even if he doesn't agree with them."
