Hannah Gau
Master Science in Speech-Language Pathology, Rehabilitation Medicine
Hannah was initially drawn to rehabilitation medicine by her mother, an occupational therapist. By second year she was enjoying her psychology and speech and language courses, leading to research positions that convinced her to pursue speech-language pathology.
“My first research assistant position with Alberta Health Services and later on, other positions within the University of Alberta where I got to take part in research investigating Childhood Apraxia of Speech, the role of gesture in child language development, and the use of gesture in bilingual ASL users. By the time I neared the end of my undergrad degree, I was set on becoming a speech-language pathologist.”
Hannah is currently working as a speech-language pathologist for a school divisionand Alberta Health Services homecare in the Camrose area.
“I am proud to serve the rural communities around my hometown. Through my clinical experiences and volunteer roles, I have developed a passion for advocating for better access to speech and language therapy and I hope to use the skills I’ve developed over these past six years as a U of A student to make this possible.”
