Jackie Ryan

Jackie was initially drawn to study autism because her youngest son is autistic. Jackie herself was also identified as autistic nine years ago.

Jackie actively included people with autism at all stages of the research process, advocating for more participatory approaches to research rather than traditional proxy reporting.

Jackie is passionate about advocacy for people with autism, their rights and their inclusion in research processes.

Jackie's advice for prospective students:
"Make sure [you] are passionate about what you intend to study. This will help with staying motivated over a significant period of study."

Jackie is continuing research into the second phase of implementation with the support of SSHIRC and CIHR funding.
