About Edmonton
When you come and study at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, you're also choosing to live and work in one of Canada's most exciting cities. With more than one million residents, our city is a vibrant metropolitan area with lots to offer.
River Valley
The Edmonton River Valley is just north of the University of Alberta's main campus and is 22 times larger than New York's Central Park and is North America's largest stretch of urban parkland. It features paved and natural multi-use paths providing opportunities for jogging, hiking, mountain biking and cross-country skiing.
Whyte Avenue + Jasper Avenue
The historic Whyte Avenue is a short walk from our Faculty, and offers a unique collection of theatres, boutiques, nightlife hotspots, cafés, and festivals. Jasper Avenue (just on the other side of the river in downtown) also boasts some of Edmonton's best restaurants, bars and clubs.
Seasons + Weather
Edmonton has four distinct seasons. In the summer months of July and August, the average high temperature is 22°C (72°F). The average winter temperature is −15°C (5°F). However, temperatures can vary greatly. The temperature may rise to 38°C (100°F) in the summer and may fall to −40°C (−40°F) in the winter.
