Seminar Series & Scholarly Activities
During the PGY-6 year, residents will have a mandatory academic half-day every two weeks. This will involve supervision with a Geriatric Psychiatry faculty member in a formal seminar setting related to a specific topic as outlined in The Curriculum (see below). This Curriculum includes 23 topics, which will span the entire PGY-6 year. The resident is expected to prepare for this half-day by reviewing relevant literature that will be provided in advance. This is intended to be a collaborative and interactive learning session. There is commitment from all Geriatric Psychiatry faculty members to participate. These sessions will also be open to other learners, including medical students, residents, and staff (all members of the interdisciplinary team).
During the PGY-5 year, residents will attend the academic half-day as mandated by their General Psychiatry Program in order to meet the General Psychiatry training requirements. Whenever possible, PGY-5 residents will be included in the PGY-6 Geriatric Psychiatry academic program.
