Canvas Support

Pedagogical support provided by the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and technical support provided by Information Services & Technology (IST) are available to support the Canvas LMS experience.

Designing your course

The CTL Canvas Team helps instructors design and deliver effective learning experiences:

  • Structuring your Canvas course for better engagement
  • Implementing assessments in Canvas such as quizzes, discussion forums, peer review
  • Promoting student participation in the course through Canvas
  • Supporting accessible and inclusive course design
  • Optimizing academic integrity using Canvas settings
  • Providing meaningful feedback through Canvas tools such as rubrics or annotations
  • Configuring grade calculation settings and grade weighting

Technical Support 

The eClass Team at IST helps users troubleshoot technical issues in Canvas:

  • Logging in, managing user access, adding TA permissions, or enrolling students manually
  • System errors or bugs, such as broken links or missing files
  • Grade calculation settings and grade weighting
  • Uploading or migrating course materials (PDFs, slides and videos from eClass or Google)
  • Informing users about Canvas updates, new features, and downtime

In-person co-working spaces to design and build Canvas course(s) for the upcoming Spring, Summer, and Fall 2025 terms.
