Tentative agreement reached in bargaining

Your Postdoctoral Fellows Association (PDFA) is pleased to announce that the bargaining process between PDFA and the University of Alberta (U of A) has concluded, and we have reached a tentative first collective agreement (CA) for postdoctoral fellows at the U of A!

The collective agreement is a written contract between the U of A and the PDFA that outlines the terms and working conditions of all postdoctoral fellows employed at the university. These terms and conditions have been agreed to through the collective bargaining negotiations between the U of A and the PDFA. The proposed term of the agreement is August 1, 2022 to December 31, 2024.

For the collective agreement to be implemented, both the U of A and the PDFA have to go through a process to ratify the agreement. That means that the majority of both the U of A's Board of Governors and current PDFA members and will have to vote in favour of the tentative agreement. 

All postdoctoral fellows employed by the university have been sent an email with details of the tentative agreement, information about upcoming information sessions, and the ratification vote timelines.
