Admission Requirements

2024-25 Academic Year

Minimum admission requirements to the PharmD for Practicing Pharmacists program for the 2024-25 academic year include:

  1. An entry to practice pharmacy degree from a recognized institution.
  2. Normally, an overall GPA of 3.0 or equivalent in the entry to practice pharmacy degree.
  3. Proof of current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a pharmacist in the jurisdiction where direct experiential patient care placements will be completed.*
  4. Authorization to administer drugs by injection where legislated.*
  5. Official transcripts from the entry to practice pharmacy program and any other post-secondary education completed.
  6. Spoken English Requirement: Applicants must meet a spoken English requirement. See Spoken English Requirement in the University of Alberta Calendar.
  7. Curriculum vitae (CV)
  8. Cover Letter
  9. Letters of reference
  10. Personal interview

*Items 3 and 4 can occur after admission to the program, but must occur prior to commencing the first placement. Currently, experiential placements are completed in most Canadian provinces. Thus, licensure to practice pharmacy in Canada is currently necessary for admission.
