Maurice and Edna Minton Endowment Fund for Cancer Nursing Research Student Bursary

Through a generous donation from the late Mr. Maurice C. Minton, the establishment of The Maurice and Edna Marie Minton Endowment Fund for Cancer Nursing Research (Minton Endowment Fund) was made possible. The intent of the endowment is to enhance the quality and quantity of cancer nursing research for the purpose of improving cancer nursing practice and patient care. This can be achieved by increasing the number of nursing research projects directly related to cancer nursing practice through the funding of research projects, feasibility projects, or student bursaries. The Student Bursary is intended to offer motivated students with exceptional academic records the opportunity to study advanced practices in oncology nursing.

Value of Student Bursary

The value of the Student Bursary (PhD Nursing or MN student) is a maximum of 1 award of up to $10,000 or 2 awards of up to $5,000.

Undergraduate Student Summer Research Award

The Faculty of Nursing offers a summer research program to support the work of undergraduate Honors nursing students as they experience the research environment first-hand. All honors students are involved in research activities under the supervision of a Faculty of Nursing tenure track member to develop their research skills and experience. The award is meant to support the work that Honors students engage in during their tenure in the Honors program (collaborative or after degree) and who are currently enrolled in their third year (collaborative) or first year (after degree) of the Nursing Honors.

Together, the honors program and summer research award aim to encourage students to engage in research, pursue graduate education and consider a research career. The overall purpose of this award program is to strengthen nursing-related research and talent development by providing research training support to students. The goal is to lead to the development of the next generation of nursing researchers.

Value of Student Bursary

The value of each student’s summer studentship award is $2,000 for one month, paid as a bursary. The hours can be spread out over time per discussion with your supervisor.

Upon consultation with Supervisors, students may apply as individuals, in pairs, or in groups of three.
