After Degree Prerequisites

As outlined in the Admission Requirements section of the University Calendar, specific prerequisite courses must be completed in order to be eligible for admission to the BScN-After Degree program. The following prerequisite courses must be completed, and transcripts submitted by the June 15 deadline:

  • English (3 units)
  • Human Anatomy (3 units)
  • Human Physiology (3 units)
  • Medical Microbiology (3 units)
  • Statistics (3 units)

Important: Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, and Medical Microbiology courses require a minimum grade of C+ and must be completed within 5 years of the program start date.

Where to Take These Courses

You can complete these courses at any accredited institution. Options include:

  • University of Alberta: Many courses are available online through the Open Studies programThese courses are delivered online and registration information can be found on Bear Tracks.
  • Other Institutions: Use the Transfer Credit Search Tool to find equivalent courses.

If you’re taking courses outside of Canada, please submit course descriptions for evaluation.

It is provided as a list of some of the possible options available in the Edmonton area.
