About the creators or our Story Map
Alexandre Chiasson is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Alberta. His research focuses on studying the dynamic and intra-variability of peatland morphology in the central Mackenzie Valley, with particular interest in dendritic peat plateaus- an understudied permafrost peatland landform. Alexandre contributes to content creation and development of StoryMaps as part of the UAlberta North StoryMap initiative.
Marina Taskovic is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alberta. Through her research, she aims to understand the effects of ongoing permafrost thaw on aquatic biogeochemistry in rivers and streams. Studying in the greater Peel Plateau region, she is particularly interested in the microbial functional response to the input of thawed materials in aquatic networks and the potential effects on aquatic food web production. Marina contributes to the conceptualization of new content, student outreach, and page development for the StoryMap initiative.
Gabrielle Hatten is an MSc student in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alberta. She is interested in shifts in aquatic biogeochemistry as a result of permafrost thaw in the western Canadian Arctic. Gabrielle contributes to content creation and page development in the UAlberta North StoryMap initiative.
