Zooarchaeology Reference Collection
The Zooarchaeology Reference Collection in the department of Anthropology is a comprehensive selection of animal skeletal specimens from Alberta and the Arctic, with a small number of mollusc specimens. One of the best of its kind in Canada, the collection is used to compare and identify fragmentary faunal remains found during archaeological excavations. This active teaching and research collection provides a greater understanding of animal health and development, past human diets, and the interactions between animals, humans and the environment.
