Herbert Marshall McLuhan Graduate Student Award
The Herbert Marshal McLuhan Graduate Student Award was established by the MA in Communications and Technology in recognition of the 90th anniversary of Professor McLuhan's birth in Edmonton on 21 July 1911. The award has evolved since its inception and is now an acknowledgement of outstanding scholarship by a MACT student in his or her capstone research.
Each year those MACT students who have completed their capstone research or thesis become eligible for nomination by their supervisor for the Herbert Marshall McLuhan Graduate Student Award. A selection committee, consisting of MACT faculty members and an alumnus of the program (typically the previous year's recipient), reviews and assesses the nominated capstone projects or thesis. The projects are reviewed on the following criteria: scholarship, relevance to professional/academic communities and innovation.
