Mission Statement
Our Purpose
Research and education in the Collaborative Mathematical Biology Lab is focused on interdisciplinary collaborations between the Life Sciences and Mathematics. We use mathematical tools to analyse biological, ecological, and medical problems that are significant to Canadians, such as invasive species, ecological impact of climate change, as well as cancer progression and treatment. Our activities fall into three categories:
- facilitation of multidisciplinary connections between life scientists and mathematicians, and between academics and government/industry;
- training of a new generation of researchers; and
- research in mathematical biology, locally, nationally and internationally.
The CMB invites visitors, coordinates a seminar series, and helps to organize educational programs held at the University of Alberta. It develops and implements collaborative multidisciplinary research with government, industry and academia.
