The Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta invites applications for the Katz Group Research Fellow in Health Law. This position, which will be funded by the Katz Group Chair in Health Law endowment and external research grants, is a two-year non-tenure track contract position at the assistant professor level with a possibility of future contract extensions or conversion to tenure track.
The successful applicant will join a thriving health law and policy team. Although the emphasis of this position is on research and writing, the position also carries with it teaching responsibilities in both the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The successful applicant will work with the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences to develop and present lectures to student pharmacists on health ethics, health law (privacy and negligence), and federal and provincial pharmacy legislation. The total annual load would be 22-25 class periods. The individual will also teach one course in the Faculty of Law. The individual will work with the Faculty of Law's health law scholars, including the holder of the Katz Group Chair in Health Law, to facilitate the coordination of research and associated dissemination activities. The position may also involve high-level project management activities related to existing and future interdisciplinary research initiatives. Finally, the successful applicant will be expected to have his or her own research agenda that complements existing health law and policy research in the Faculty of Law.
The successful candidate will have a graduate degree in law. Preference will be given to applicants with a health law background and / or health law related Ph.D., or in the process of completing a Ph.D. or equivalent. Candidates should have a strong record or aptitude for research and publication, experience or interest in teaching at a post-secondary level and experience or interest in working with interdisciplinary research teams, project management and the production of research grants.
