Student Awards Fellowships

Student award, fellowship and scholarship recipients announced.

The 2011 recipients of the Roger S Smith Student Research Awards for the Faculty of Law are Kimberly Precht (1L) and Justin Turc (2L). Kimberly will be working with Professor David Percy on research on the sharing of interprovincial rivers and the 1969 Master Agreement on apportionment and Justin will be working with Professor Russell Brown on research for a new civil procedure casebook.

The 2011 recipients of the BLG Fellowship are Laura Lefebvre (1L) and Tim Mallett (1L). Laura will be working with Professor Elaine Hughes on a new casebook on "Natural Resource and Public Land Law in Canada"and Tim will be working with Professor Eran Kaplinsky on a law review article on "Business Improvement Districts in Canada: Legal Framework & Common Goals."

The Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation (RMMLF) recently announced the recipients of the Spring 2011 RMMLF Scholarships. Congratulations to Jessica Kennedy (2L) who was one of the 24 scholarship recipients.

The Scholarships Program consists of the Joe Rudd Scholarships, established in 1980 in honor of a prominent natural resources attorney in Alaska, and the RMMLF Scholarships, established in 1993.

Law students enrolled full-time at one of the Foundation's 30 Constituent Law schools and who demonstrate a commitment to the study of natural resources law are eligible to apply for these tuition scholarships. Academic and leadership ability as well as financial need are evaluated by the Foundation's dedicated Scholarships Committee consisting of volunteer attorneys. To date, over $1.2 million has been awarded to 287 scholars.
