Investigating the question among French speaking students of African and Métis background: how long does it take education students belonging to a racialized and/or a minority group to get a job offer?

 

Project Description:

How often does it take education students belonging to a racialized and/or a minority group to get job offer?

This projects aims to investigate this question among French speaking students of African and Métis background. Racialized and minority group students in Faculté Saint-Jean 's education program has formally complained that they do not get jobs as easily as their “white” classmates even though there is a shortage of teachers in French immersion and francophone programs. In this project, we will gather evidence-based data of hiring practices from alumni of the program spanning the last decade through a Data Acquisition Model that will provide learning analytics reports to visualize hiring patterns of these minority groups within schools and school divisions. A team of professors of education, policy studies, political sciences, indigenous education and computing sciences will delve into these questions with input from the Black Excellence in Research Network of the university.
