How to participate on GFC Standing Committees
Get involved by joining a GFC (or other) Standing Committee!
Standing Committees of General Faculties Council (GFC), and other university-wide committees have approved Terms of References that include U of A Students and Staff in their committee compositions to ensure a balanced and diverse representation.
GFC Membership Representation
While some GFC Standing Committees seek student and staff members from the "university at large", other standing committee compositions may specify that "GFC membership is needed". In this instance, the student/staff applicant must become a serving member of General Faculties Council (GFC). Both the GFC membership term and GFC Standing Committee term will run concurrently throughout the academic year.
- Students who are interested in General Faculties Council membership should reach out to their own faculty student associations for more information, or contact the University of Alberta Students' Union/Graduate Students' Association.
- Faculty members who are interested in GFC membership positions should contact their Faculty Dean's Office (Faculty Council administrator).
Additional information regarding member expectations, roles, and responsibilities is outlined in the General Faculties Council and Committee Member Guidebook.
