Reliability Engineering, Standards, and Safety Engineering
About
The research area of Reliability Engineering, Standards, and Safety Engineering is a unique area that deals with the estimation, prevention, and management of high levels of uncertainty and risks of failure over the lifetime of engineering systems and products, produces standards that ensures quality and minimizes risk, and proposes safety protocols that prevents the adverse outcomes of risk.
Departmental research activities in this field include, but are not limited to, operations research on the reliability of mechanical systems and telecommunications networks; quality and standards; modeling and simulation of technological systems to identify inefficiencies and failure mechanisms and to test solutions; sustainability of large industrial operations; risk evaluation for unconventional energy systems and carbon capture systems; and design information standards.
