Engineering Management

About

Engineering Management is a discipline associated with the planning and coordinating of people and technical resources to achieve a technological objective. Such objectives may include developing, estimating, scheduling, and delivering a project, or running the operations of a technology company.

Courses in engineering management cover a wide range of topics, from engineering finance, operations management, and project management, through optimization theory, lean manufacturing, and personality theory.

Research in this field includes network optimization and reliability; reliability and risk management; diagnostics, prognostics, and health management; quality and standards; modeling and simulation of technological systems to identify inefficiencies and failure mechanisms and to test solutions; sustainability of large industrial operations; risk evaluation for unconventional energy systems and carbon capture systems; technical and economic feasibility of clean energy biofuels; manufacturing; process management and planning; informatics and knowledge management; design information standards; and design theory and methodology.
