Special Graduate Students
General Information about Special Graduate Student Admissions
Consult the program at essgrad1@ualberta.ca before completing the on-line application. There is a non-refundable application fee of $100 for Special Graduate Students and the course(s) you want to take may not be available to you because of restrictions or space availability. Special Graduate Students must apply to the department/teaching area which offers the course and be admitted each year in which they wish to register. An admission offer is only valid for one calendar year from the student's start date.
Programs in Educational Psychology now allow Open Studies students to register in graduate courses (maximum of two). Open Studies is very term-specific. If a student applies for Winter and does not register in a course and then decides to register in a course for Spring, the student will need to reapply. Information on applying for Open Studies student status can be found on the UAlberta website under Other Admission Routes.
