Graduate Admissions
Graduate students at the University of Alberta are part of the Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies (FGPS). In addition to program-specific requirements and deadlines, FGSR has policies and requirements pertaining to all graduate students at the University of Alberta. Dates and deadlines may differ between programs, therefore it is crucial to review your chosen program requirements well in advance of the application deadline.

Step 1: Choose your Graduate Program
Educational Policy Studies offers graduate programs at the Master and Doctoral level in four specializations.
Step 2: Review Graduate Admissions Requirements
FGPS has general admissions requirements for all applicants. Visit the program-specific subpage to review specific requirements and contact the program if you have any questions.
Step 3: Prepare and Apply Online
The application requires digital copies (PDF) of official documents. The uploaded documents are considered unofficial and will be used for the initial evaluation of the application. See Application Documentation for more information.
Please note that as of September 1st, 2021, the fee for applications to all graduate programs has increased from 100.00 CAD to 135.00 CAD. If you have questions about the fee, please contact grad.webadm@ualberta.ca.
Application Deadlines
MEd applications open November 1 and close March 1.
The doctoral program has one application deadline: December 1st.
Application Documentation
Review the document checklist, document requirements, and all application steps before applying. Application documentation can include Transcripts, Referees, Curriculum Vitae/Resume, Statement of Intent, Distinguished Life Experience Essay, English Language Proficiency Requirement, Confirmation of Potential Research Supervisor (Doctoral), Writing Sample (Doctoral).
