Congratulations to Brigid MacAoud
13 September 2023
East Asian Studies Honors student Brigid MacAoud won a 2023 Roger S. Smith Undergraduate Student Research Award for her project newly titled, Revealing Pan-Asianness: An Examination of East Asian Representations in Popular Video Games. Brigid's research explores how East Asian identities are often constructed through stereotypes that can inform, interact with, and perpetuate narrow views of "authentic Asia". The project invites scholars and players alike to learn more about the diverse countries, cultures, and languages in this dynamic region to help think more critically about the content and impacts of video games and other popular culture products.
Brigid's research poster will be on display until Friday, September 15 at noon in the Rutherford South Foyer. There will be a formal reception open to faculty and students on Wednesday, September 13 at 3 PM in the Rutherford South Foyer.
