The new version of the TOCFL includes three proficiency bands: Band A (basic competence for daily life communication), Band B (Being able to comprehend and analyze dialogues and texts) and Band C (Focus on the vocabulary extent and language proficiency). The test has both listening and reading sections and is also available in both traditional and simplified character versions. Test takers are not required to write Chinese characters while taking the test. All answers are to be marked on the Answer Sheet.
Each test taker who successfully reaches the level requirements will receive a Chinese Language Proficiency certificate, which can be served as a Chinese proficiency credential for individuals who would like to study, apply for a job or do business in Chinese-speaking countries.
The Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Alberta will be hosting the TOCFL on campus this year. The exam date is April 24 (Friday) at 1:00 pm. If you are interested and want to challenge yourself as a Chinese language learner, DO seize this opportunity! The registration deadline isMarch 20, 2015 (Friday).
