Three new colleagues are joining the Department's teaching staff this fall, bringing exciting new areas of academic and teaching expertise with them.
Dr. Hiromi Aoki, Faculty Lecturer in Japanese, specializes in the non-verbal aspects of communication in Japanese. Dr. Aoki completed her Ph.D. in Applied Linguitics at UCLA (University of California at Los Angeles) in 2008.
Dr. Qian Wang, Faculty Lecturer in Chinese, competed her Ph.D. in Linguistics at the University of Victoria in 2008. Dr. Wang's dissertation explored the perception and production of English stress by both English speakers and Mandarin speakers.
Dr. Darryl Sterk, Contract Instructor in Chinese, is a specialist in Chinese literature who completed his Ph.D. at the University of Toronto in 2009. Dr. Sterk's Ph. D. dealt with images of indigenous women in modern Taiwan fiction.
