Department welcomes new Chair and faculty members

The Department of East Asian Studies is very pleased to welcome a new
department Chair and three new faculty members. Dr. Ryan Dunch (History
and Classics), a specialist in Chinese history, is the new Chair of the
department. New members of the department and the University of Alberta
community are: Dr. Mikael Adolphson, in Japanese Cultural Studies, Dr.
David Quinter, in East Asian Religions (a joint appointment with the
Program in Religious Studies), and Dr. Zeb Raft, in Premodern Chinese
Literature. We look forward to the arrival of our new colleagues and to
cementing the department's place as a major Canadian centre for the
study of East Asia.
