Our Mission
"Located in a northern prairie city, the School of Urban and Regional Planning is a vibrant, diverse, community. We contribute to the practice and profession of planning and to more just, sustainable and livable communities through integrated teaching, learning, research and engagement." - UAlberta SURP Mission Statement
Planners can shape the world around them. They use space and buildings to support society, enhance our lives, and protect the natural resources surrounding us. Planners work for all levels of government and in professional planning consultancies. They develop social policies, work on economic development, and use technology to help plan parks and housing, or develop transportation infrastructure.
Our degree programs strive to educate students in both the art and science of planning, and feature 'hands-on' labs and experiential learning through site visits and exploration of local planning issues. Select the level of education below to find out more.
