Updated: December 5, 2024
Due to emergency repairs, our clinicians are currently working virtually this month. Our reception desk is moved to SUB 2-703 and is staffed from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. If you have an appointment booked in December, please check your email for instructions.
Our team is working hard to reach out to students as soon as possible. Call 780-492-5205 to reach us during business hours. Thank you for your understanding!
Support for Faculty & Staff
U of A faculty and staff who are looking for personal support can connect with the Employee and Family Assistance Program.
CCS offers the following services to all U of A staff and faculty:
Consultations
Staff and faculty can consult with CCS for support and guidance on how to help students who are struggling with their mental health. Common reasons to consult include how to support a student in distress, how to handle a sensitive matter with a student or how to deal with mental health related disclosures from students. Call us at 780.492.5205 to request a consult.
If you are worried a student may be a risk to themselves or others, contact Helping Individuals at Risk (HIAR).
For ideas on how to help and a list of relevant services for students, check out the university’s How To Help Guide.
Request a Workshop
Book a 60-90 minute mental health workshop for your group or unit. Our most popular workshop for staff/faculty is “Identifying, Helping & Referring Students in Distress” where you will learn how to help students who are struggling with their mental health.
Satellite Psychologists
Satellite Psychologists are part of the CCS team, but they are located in specific faculties to help staff and faculty better support student mental health. They are available to consult on concerns, deliver workshops and also collaborate on projects and events. Satellite Psychologists are currently partnered with the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Students (GPS).
