Iverson Computing Science Exam

High School students in Alberta are invited to challenge themselves with the Iverson Computing Science Exam to compete for cash prizes. Many teachers bring their computer classes for the day and tour department research labs in the afternoon.

School Visits

Our faculty and students visit junior high and high schools to discuss computing science, research areas and careers. To arrange a computing science guest speaker for your class, contact us at outreach@cs.ualberta.ca.

Student for a Day

Students in grades 11 and 12 who are interested in computing science may visit the University and shadow an undergraduate for a day. They attend classes, tour campus, obtain advice on course selection, and scholarships. Contact us or the Campus ambassadors to arrange a visit.

IB Projects

Our faculty supervises International Baccalaureate (IB) student projects. Would you like to do a project with us? Have your teacher contact us at outreach@cs.ualberta.ca.

Workshops and Symposiums

The Department of Computing Science provides facilities and hosts workshops for computing science teachers. The Teacher's Symposium happens twice a year, once in June and once in January.
