Who was your community partner and can you describe the project objectives?  

I worked at The Steadward Centre, and we were going through an exercise program with individuals who experience disability.

What was your biggest takeaway from your CSL placement? 

My biggest takeaway is that individuals with disabilities are people first. Their disability does not define who they are as a person, and traditional ways of our society often marginalize this community. 

How can you apply any newly gained knowledge/skills to your future endeavours (courses/employment/volunteering)?

I was able to slowly build comfortability, communication skills and general knowledge around fostering development while working with people who experience disabilities. As a preservice teacher, these skills will be incredibly useful in my future classroom.

What are some of the ways that COVID-19 has affected your community partner or your placement? 

COVID did not affect my placement.
