Equity, Diversity + Inclusion (EDI) Statement
Located on Treaty 6 territory, the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Alberta respects and honors the diverse histories, languages, cultures and experiences of First Nations, Métis, Inuit and First Peoples of Canada. We extend this respect and honour to the diversity in our community that includes but is not limited to race, ethnicity, national origin, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, socio-economic status, class, and religion. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment that brings together diverse perspectives from our students, staff, clients, and members of the community. We acknowledge the history of racism and discrimination in Canada and our field of Speech-Language Pathology, and we commit to creating an anti-Racist framework as a living document to proactively seek out and eliminate racism and discrimination as experienced by people who have been marginalized within our community. Together, we will advance excellence in clinical practice and research in the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders in ways that are equitable, diverse and inclusionary. We place human rights and dignity at the center of our teaching, research, and clinical practice.
