Developed by the Black Students’ Collective, this content aims to provide a list of resources, services, and activities that directly support Black students' academic development, student participation, and other student services for Black students.

University of Alberta Programs and Student Groups
The Experiential Learning in Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship (ELITE) Program for Black Youth is a great opportunity for Black Youth (15 to 22 years old) to participate in hands-on learning and work-integrated training in science, engineering, and technology fields and in entrepreneurship.
Students are matched with a research professor, company in the industry, or government agency and work on a project during an 8 or 16 week PAID internship period! Interns receive entrepreneurship training and wellness coaching.

The Black Youth Mentorship and Leadership Program is an interdisciplinary mentorship program for Black high school youths. The program seeks to socially and economically empower Black youths to contribute meaningfully to society. Students enrolled in the program will attend workshops, improve their academic skills, gain practical and/or research experience and be exposed to student and/or faculty mentors in either individual or group format.

The University of Alberta Black Students’ Association will serve as an organization that strives to empower and promote community interaction among all Black students at the University of Alberta. With the goal of fostering student development, the UABSA’s objective is to create a network of supportive members who connect culturally, socially, and contribute to one another’s success academically.
Our aim is not only to provide a safe environment for Black students but one that invites all University of Alberta students to discuss issues affecting the Black community, as well as aiming to encourage them to become more aware and involved with the movement of overcoming social, economic and racial inequalities in our world.

Community or Online Resources
Grad Schooling While Black is a platform rooted in resource-sharing, story-telling, and community building to support members of the Black community navigate their journeys to and through academia. We offer webinars and mentorship opportunities wherein we connect prospective Black grad students to letter of intent reviewers.
