The YAC is an important part of Camp made up of a diverse youth (ages 14 - 24) who help us by brainstorming ideas and providing feedback on activities and workshops. We value multiple perspectives and want to hear lots of different voices!.
From March to August the YAC will meet for a total of up to eight one-hour virtual sessions, including a debrief after Camp. We happily provide letters of participation for all YAC members along with a $50 honourarium / gift card as a token of our thanks.
If you've missed the deadline and are interested in applying contact campfyre@ualberta.ca. If you decide to attend Camp, you will also need to complete a Camper Application by the application deadline.
Are you ready?
Camp is not only a fun place for community building, it is also a place for reflection and exploration of identity. There will be moments that are busy and full of people, then other times when we’re in quiet spaces. Over the four days you’ll have a dedicated team of staff and volunteers to answer any questions and provide support.
Youth Camp and Parent/Guardian Consent
We accept applications for campers who will be 14-24 during camp. If you will be under the age of 18 at that time, parent / guardian consent will be required to participate.
Lots of Applications
Each year we get more applications than there are spaces available for Campers for in-person camp. In this case, each application is read by separate reviewers who independently consider each application. Applications are reviewed for completeness, goals and needs, depth of response to the application questions, and previous personal experiences. Camp Coordinators meet with application reviewers then make final participant decisions.
Diversity
We are committed to diversity and representation within our camper and volunteer groups. Because these identities are often underrepresented, we especially welcome applications from queer individuals of colour, two-spirit and/or indigenous people, people with disabilities and trans-feminine people.
The 2024 will be posted soon and will include all programming, meals, and accommodation. If you have any questions at all, please contact the Camp Coordinator at campfyre@ualberta.ca.
All participants, including staff, volunteers and campers must commit to the Community Agreements (along with any site-specific practices).
