From your first day in BUS 101, we create opportunities for you to connect, collaborate, and grow.
Now, we’re thrilled to launch the BCom Spirit Cup for first year business students – a partnership with the Business Undergraduate Office and the Business Students’ Association (BSA). Get ready for exciting, inclusive activities that embrace friendly competition, strengthen bonds, and fuel team spirit!
How it Works
- Each team can participate in a variety of activities throughout the semester. These include things like: campus tours, service fairs, Halloween costume contests, mock case competitions, scavenger hunts and more! The business undergraduate office will share details about upcoming events in advance.
- Activities can be team-based, individual or participant focused.
- In team-based activities, you'll work together and receive points according to your team's final placement.
- In individual activities, you can win points for your team even if you all can't participate.
- In participant activities, each member of the team who participates in the activity earns a point!
- At the end of the semester, the team with the most points will win a pizza celebration and some business swag!

Fall 2024 Leaderboard
Team standings will be announced in the weekly undergraduate newsletter, which is distributed on Wednesdays. Point totals will be updated after each activity!

Past Activities
U of A Passport Scavenger Hunt
- When: Wednesday, September 4
- Groups take photos of themselves at various campus locations to earn points for their team.
Services Fair Passport
- When: Tuesday, October 1
- Students visit the Business Undergraduate Office Services Fair and complete a passport by interacting with at least 8 booths.
Human Bingo - Ferguson Impact Series Launch Event
- When: Monday, October 7
- A fast-paced networking activity where students connect with alumni, professionals and peers by matching prompts on a Bingo card, fostering meaningful conversations and new connections.
Adopt-a-Week Pantry
- When: October 14-18 and October 21-25, 2024
- Items will be collected in the Carruthers Student Commons at the BSA table from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Pitch Competition
- When: November 6 & 18
- A showcase of student's oral communication skills in a dynamic in-class competition, applying techniques learned during lectures while competing head-to-head with peers.
