University of Alberta Application

Students selected and formally nominated by their home institutions must submit the following documents to the Alberta School of Business.

Undergraduate Exchange Student:

Nominated students will receive detailed instructions on submitting required documents through our online application system. Documents to be submitted include:

  • Up-to-date official record of ALL post-secondary work completed at your current institution (and any other higher education institution you have attended). If your official records are not in English, an English translation will be required.
  • A list of in-progress courses being taken and/or those that will be completed prior to the exchange (if not shown on the official record).
  • Proof of English language proficiency as specified by the exchange agreement.

MBA (Visiting) Exchange Student

  1. University of Alberta Application for Visiting Graduate Student. Please refer to the minimum graduate academic requirements by country for admission standards.
  2. Up-to-date official transcripts (in original language) of ALL post-secondary work completed, including all undergraduate and graduate studies, degree certificate(s), etc. If your official records are not in English, an English translation will be required.
  3. Proof of English language proficiency as specified by the exchange agreement.
  4. GMAT report (optional) - standard admission requirement for MBA Program is 550.
  5. Permission to Participate Form with a list of courses requested at the University of Alberta (Please note that only 500-or-600-level courses are offered at the MBA level) and signed by appropriate personnel at your home institution granting approval.
  6. Copy of your passport identification page.

MBA Dual Degree Students

  1. University of Alberta Shared Credential Application Form. Please refer to the minimum graduate academic requirements by country for admission standards.
  2. Up-to-date official transcripts (in original language) of ALL post-secondary work completed, including all undergraduate and graduate studies, degree certificate(s), etc. If your official records are not in English, an English translation will be required.
  3. Proof of English language proficiency as specified by the exchange agreement.
  4. GMAT/GRE - standard minimum admission requirement for the MBA Program is a GMAT score of 550 or an overall GRE score at the 50th percentile.
  5. Permission to Participate Form with appropriate signatures from your home institution granting approval.
  6. Copy of your passport identification page.

Important Notes for all applicants

  • All application forms and documents must be completed in full before submission. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Completed application packages must be received prior to our application deadlines.
  • Early submission is highly recommended, as processing the application documents typically takes approximately 6-8 weeks.
  • For MBA and Dual Degree applications, electronic PDF versions of all items may be scanned and emailed directly to the exchange coordinator for submission. Unless otherwise indicated, no original hard copies will be required
  • A nomination from your home institution does NOT guarantee admission, campus accommodation, or registration in requested courses.
  • Please do not make any travel arrangements until you have received an official Letter of Admission from the University of Alberta and a student visa to enter Canada.
